oceansaver1OceanSaver announced that Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) has ordered ballast water management (BWM) systems for six VLCCs thus lifting the company’s order book to approximately NOK 280 million. The DSIC VLCC contract follows recent OceanSaver BWM system orders with Hyundai Heavy Industries for two Suezmax crude-oil tankers and six VLCCs at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company.   • PureBallast Orders From Korea

    alfa-maersk-webAlfa Laval  has received two orders of record size for Alfa Laval PureBallast systems from two leading ship yards in Korea. The systems will be installed on board fourteen vessels built for A.P Møller - Maersk. The total order value is about SEK 80 million and the delivery is scheduled for 2011 and 2012. “These are groundbreaking orders in many ways”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.   • Final Approval for CleanBallast

    cleanballastwebThe International Maritime Organization (IMO) has granted the Final Approval of Active Substances to RWO’s ballast water treatment system CleanBallast and thereby noted that the CleanBallast system is safe for the crew, ship and environment. This final approval is one of four major steps necessary for obtaining the full type approval certificate for ballast water treatment systems. As a first step, RWO - part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies - received the basic approval of active substances from the IMO in October 2006 and subsequently finalised the land-based type approval of CleanBallast in 2007.
