Dredging giant Jan De Nul can clearly see the benefits of the Damen Stan Tug 1606 - often dubbed the workhorse of the industry - with eleven Stan Tugs joining its fleet in the last few years. To be delivered over a period of 18 months, the five latest vessels have all been built at Albwardy Marine Engineering in Dubai, one of Damen’s joint venture shipyards in the Middle East. (more…)

The South African built Damen Azimuth Stern Drive tug 3211, the ‘Osayame’ set sail from quay 500 in Cape Town harbour at the end of January 2010 to arrive in Port Harcourt only 12 days later. The ‘Osayame’, meaning God’s gift is the first tug of its kind to be built in SA by Damen Shipyards Cape Town, and its owner Starzs Investments is the first indigenous Nigerian company to commission and own such a vessel. At the 4th Maritime Awards Gala, held in Rotterdam, the KVNR Shipping Award 2009 was granted to the sustainable tugboat project known as E3 Tug. The E3 tug is being developed by a consortium consisting of Smit engineering, Damen Shipyards and Alewijnse Marine Systems. (more…)

On Saturday 14 November, the Patriot arrived safely in Odessa (Ukraine). TOS performed turnkey management in close cooperation with Damen for the delivery from Shanghai (China) to Odessa. A ceremonial welcome took place at the passenger terminal. (more…)

Pon, Damen and Caterpillar have been business partners for forty years now. On Thursday 27 August, Damen, Pon Power (the Dutch Caterpillar dealer) and Bolier (the Dutch MaK dealer) have commemorated this landmark and signed a new contract that will shape their future cooperation. At the same time, the yearly Damen barbeque - this year hosted by Pon - celebrated the parties’ good relations.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc got awarded a contract by the Ministry of Public Works and Government Services of Canada for the construction of a series of Stan Patrol 4207 for the Canadian Coast Guard. The contract envisions nine vessels with an option for another three, of which the first vessel is to be delivered within 24 months after contract award. Irving Shipbuilding Inc contracted Damen for the basic design. (more…)
