China Shipping-Jumbo Heavy Lift Co. Ltd., the Jumbo Shipping and China Shipping joint venture, has opened a new office in Beijing. Together with its office in Shanghai, Jumbo aims to further strengthen its position in the Chinese project and heavy lift market. Jumbo Shipping’s Jumbo Jubilee has completed its maiden voyage following successful loading, transporting and installing two 1250 t shiploaders for FL Smidth under challenging circumstances. Afterwards, the client commented: “It was fascinating to see such professionals at work.” (more…)

Jumbo Shipping’s heavy lift vessel Daniella has completed her eleventh and final voyage for the Pluto LNG project in Dampier, Australia. Between October 2008 and October 2009 she transported 256 pieces of equipment for this project, including pre-assembled structures and pipe racks weighing up to 240 t. HLV Fairlift has completed twelve voyages and will start the final phase of another five shipments. (more…)

On Saturday 22 August 2009, a new tandem heavy lift record was set by mv Jumbo Jubilee. A load of 1,980 t, 10% on top of the combined SWL of the cranes, was required to obtain a Lloyds Certificate of Compliance. However, the test load had a record breaking weight of 1,992 t, stated to be the heaviest load ever lifted by a heavy lift transport ship. (more…)

LC Volgo-Baltic Logistic (VBL), one of Russia’s biggest freight agencies, has signed an exclusive agreement with Dutch heavy lift shipping company Jumbo Shipping. Jumbo Shipping has appointed VBL as its exclusive commercial agent for Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). By joining experience and fleet-possibilities, the two companies will be able to meet customers’ needs for lifting, shipping, pre-carriage and on-carriage of oversized and overweight cargoes to and from the Russian (inland) waterways and seaports throughout the world. For Jumbo Shipping this is both the logical outcome and continuation of its strategy to enter new markets. On June 8 the protocol of delivery and acceptance was signed between Jumbo Shipping and Damen Shipyards Galati, Romania. This means Jumbo is now the proud owner of the Jumbo Jubilee. Following final outfitting and voyage preparation the vessel left Galati at the end of the same week. As the Jumbo Jubilee is the fourth J1800-class vessel, her first destination is the quayside at Huisman Equipment in Schiedam, the Netherlands, to get her two 900t mast cranes installed.
