Tognum subsidiary L’Orange GmbH today celebrates the production of its 500,000th injector - a new record for the manufacturer of highpressure injection systems for diesel and heavy-oil engines. “Against the background of ever more stringent emissions legislation, injection is of enormous strategic significance for engine manufacturers,” explained L’Orange CEO Dr. Ralph-Michael Schmidt (right). The Tognum subsidiary MTU Turkey will supply, from June 2010, a total of 16 MTU Series 4000 engines to power eight Turkish landing ships for transporting tanks and vehicles. The supply scope of the order placed by SSM, the Turkish government authority, with MTU Turkey also includes the gearboxes and Bluevision MTU ship automation systems for propulsion control. (more…)

Today, MTU Friedrichshafen reveals its 8-cylinder version of its Series 4000 workboat engine at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam which takes place from 3 to 6 November. The long-stroke engine from the ‘Iron Men’ range has been specially optimized to meet the needs of workboats. (more…)

The Tognum business unit Engines received two orders for the supply of a total of 28 MTU engines from the Series 2000, Series 4000 and Series 1163 to the Korean Coast Guard in 2009. The orders also include MTU automation systems for six new vessels. The total order value is EUR 37 million. (more…)
